Calinachi is a family brand founded in 2017. How did the idea come about, and what inspired you to create your own cosmetics line?

The idea for CALINACHI came very naturally — from the desire to create not just cosmetics, but care that we truly believe in ourselves. We wanted products that combine high-quality active ingredients, intelligent formulation, and a sense of respect for the skin, scalp, and hair.

From the very beginning, we were guided by one very clear thought: that modern cosmetics can be effective, gentle, modern, and meaningful at the same time. We did not want to create a loud brand. We wanted to create a brand with intention — toward the formula, the detail, and the real needs of people.

CALINACHI started as a very personal project, but over time it became a great responsibility and a mission — to offer products that combine science, nature, aesthetics, and trust.

The name Calinachi comes from your daughter, Kalina. What does it symbolize for you, and how does it influence the philosophy of the brand?

Yes, the name CALINACHI is inspired by our daughter, Kalina, and for us it carries a very deep personal meaning. It symbolizes love, care, pure intention, and the sense of responsibility with which you create something you can truly stand behind.

When a brand carries such personal significance, it is impossible to approach it superficially. This directly shapes our philosophy — we do not see our products as mere commercial items, but as something that carries our name, our energy, and our standards.

And perhaps that is exactly why CALINACHI has always been a brand guided not by aggressive promises, but by integrity, quality, and the desire to create care with real value.

What is it like to work as a family in a business that requires so much attention to detail? How do you divide your roles within the company?

Working as a family is both a great advantage and a great responsibility. It is an advantage because we share a common vision, a deep emotional connection to the brand, and a very high level of trust in one another. When you are creating something so personal, that matters immensely.

Of course, a family business also requires a great deal of discipline. For us, everything works well when there is a clear division of roles, respect for each other’s strengths, and a shared focus on quality. Each of us is involved in different aspects of CALINACHI’s development — from concept and product vision to communication, customer experience, and long-term strategy.

What helps us most is that we are both looking in the same direction: not simply to grow a business, but to build a brand with character, consistency, and trust.

Your brand speaks about the meeting point between science and botanicals. What does that balance look like in practice when you create a new product?

For us, the “meeting point between science and botanicals” is not just a beautiful message — it is the real way we think about our formulas. In practice, this means that we seek high-performance, modern active ingredients with a clear purpose and combine them with carefully selected botanical extracts and natural components that complement the overall care experience.

Science gives us precision, effectiveness, and a structured understanding of what the skin, scalp, or hair needs. Botanicals bring depth, softness, sensoriality, and that connection to nature which is very important to us.

The balance comes when a formula is neither simply “natural” nor simply “technical,” but thoughtfully developed, harmonious, and created to be both pleasant to use and genuinely effective.

You work with ingredients from French, Italian, and Swiss laboratories. How do you choose your partners, and what does the development process look like?

Choosing partners is extremely important to us because it determines the quality of the product from the very beginning. We look for laboratories and suppliers with a serious scientific approach, a solid reputation, high manufacturing standards, and active ingredients with a clear purpose and a well-traceable profile.

We do not choose ingredients simply because they are popular. It is important for us to understand how they work, how they fit into the overall concept of the product, what they combine well with, and what real benefits they provide.

The development process usually begins with a very clear idea: what problem we want to address, what kind of sensorial experience we want, what type of result we want to achieve, and who the product is designed for. This is followed by careful formula work, testing, refinement of texture, fragrance, efficacy, and the overall consumer experience. For us, this is not a quick process — it is a process of building.

Today, many brands talk about “clean formulas.” What does that mean for Calinachi, and what are the principles you never compromise on?

For us, a “clean formula” is not a marketing label, but a responsible approach to product creation. It means careful ingredient selection, a clear purpose for every formula, respect for the skin and scalp, and a commitment to avoiding anything unnecessary when it does not bring real value.

We believe that a good formula should not simply be modern, but intelligent — combining efficacy, comfort, and good tolerability. We never compromise on the quality of raw materials, the sensorial experience during use, the logic of the formula, or the overall trust that the product should create.

For CALINACHI, clean is not an extreme. It is a balance between science, functionality, a well-crafted composition, and respect for the person using the product.

What was the first product you created, and what was the clients’ reaction?

The first product that marked the beginning of CALINACHI was the Protein Restorative Anti-Hair Loss Mask for Hair and Scalp. It was very important to us because even with this first product, we wanted to show what CALINACHI stands for — care that combines efficacy, attention to both scalp and hair, and a premium sensorial experience.

The response from clients was very valuable to us. From the very beginning, we received feedback not only about the overall feeling of high-quality, thoughtfully developed care, but also about its supportive effect in the fight against hair loss and the feeling of healthier, more vibrant hair. That gave us confidence that the direction in which we were developing the brand was the right one.

How long does it take to create a new product — from the idea to the moment it reaches the client?

Creating a new product is a process that requires time, patience, and great attention. For us, it begins long before the formula itself — with the idea, the need we want to address, and a clear understanding of the role this product should play in the client’s routine.

Then comes the actual development: selecting active ingredients, working on texture, testing, optimizing the sensorial experience, assessing stability, and refining the final details. After that come all the other stages — design, positioning, communication, and preparation for presenting the product to the client.

Sometimes this process can be relatively smooth, and sometimes it requires much more time, because for us it is important that the product be truly well finished. We do not believe in rushing products to market. We prefer to create more carefully and more meaningfully.

In practical terms today, one development usually takes between 6 and 12 months before production begins.

What would you like people to feel when they use your products?

Above all, we would like people to feel trust. To feel that the product was created with thought, respect, and the intention to offer real value, not just a momentary effect.

We also want them to feel comfort, care, and a certain kind of calm — that they are touching something beautiful, well formulated, and made with genuine attention. For us, cosmetics are not only about results, but also about ritual. They should bring efficacy, pleasure, and emotion.

If someone uses CALINACHI and feels they have found care that is at once intelligent, gentle, and truly special, then we have fulfilled our mission.

Is there a client story or piece of feedback that you will never forget?

There are many moments that stay with us, but the most powerful are those in which a client does not simply share that they like the product, but that it has changed the way they feel. When someone writes to us saying they have regained confidence, that they feel better in their own skin, that they have found care they can rely on — that is much more than positive feedback. That is real trust.

Stories like these remind us that cosmetics are not only about an external result. They are connected to self-confidence, comfort, personal space, and the way a person reconnects with themselves.

Today, Calinachi is present in 12 countries. How has the brand evolved from its early days until now?

CALINACHI’s development has been a natural process, but also the result of great persistence, attention, and consistency. In the beginning, everything was very personal and very close to us — every detail, every decision, every formula carried strong emotional meaning. Over time, the brand began to grow, but we have always tried to preserve that core — the feeling of authenticity, quality, and personal commitment.

Today, our presence in different countries is a very meaningful step because it shows that when a brand is created with a clear identity and genuine respect for the product, it can be recognized beyond its local market. For us, this development is not only about geographical expansion. It is a sign that our philosophy resonates across other cultures and markets as well.

And despite the growth, we still think of CALINACHI in exactly the same way as we did in the beginning — as a brand that should remain close, meaningful, and worthy of trust.

In your opinion, what distinguishes Bulgarian cosmetic brands on the international market?

In our view, Bulgarian cosmetic brands have strong potential precisely because they can combine several valuable qualities at once — closeness to nature, a tradition of working with plant-based ingredients, a sense of authenticity, and an increasingly modern approach to formulation and positioning.

On the international market, the brands that stand out are those that do not try to copy, but instead offer their own character. Bulgaria has much to contribute in terms of ingredient culture, its relationship with natural care, and its ability to combine local inspiration with European quality.

When this is supported by strong vision, serious development, and consistent communication, a Bulgarian brand can stand very confidently and достойно on the international stage.

What does your personal daily ritual for skin and hair care look like?

Our personal care ritual is relatively balanced and very close to the philosophy of the brand itself — not overly complicated, but thoughtful, consistent, and aligned with the real needs of the skin, scalp, and hair.

For us, good care begins with proper cleansing and respect for the natural balance. After that comes supportive care — hydration, comfort, protection, and the right active products according to the current condition. When it comes to hair and scalp, we believe in the same approach: observation, balance, and consistency, rather than chaotic product switching.

The truth is that the best routine is not the most complicated one, but the one that is sustainable, intelligent, and works in real life.

If you had to choose just one Calinachi product that best represents the brand, which would it be and why?

If we had to point to one product that most clearly represents CALINACHI, we would choose the Ameyezing eye contour serum for skincare and the Hydra Expert hydrating anti-hair loss mask for hair and scalp as our hair product. We choose these specifically because they clearly reflect our brand philosophy: modern science, patented active complexes, a delicate botanical presence, and formulas that are both effective and beautiful in their sensorial experience.

The eye contour serum is a very strong example of our skincare approach. It combines Ameyezing™ by Sederma for dark circles and puffiness, Leontopod Stems GX™ with edelweiss stem cells for collagen and elasticity protection, and Sens’Hyal™ by Givaudan for deep, adaptive hydration.
